Excellence in Supply Awards 2014
Accreditation, innovation, recognition, co-operation....all this and Everton scored a hat trick - what a night!
NHS NW Procurement Development hosted the 2nd NHS NW Excellence in supply awards on the 6th November in Blackpool.
The evening attended by over 250 guests from Industry and NHS Trusts joined together to celebrate some great examples of how industry and the NHS are working in partnership to deliver innovative effective and efficient care to communities in the Region.
Dr Liz Mear, Managing Director of the NW Coast Academic Health Science network (event sponsor) opened proceedings..
“NWC AHSN are very pleased with the investment in sponsoring the Excellence in Supply awards and have been working very closely with NWPD over the past 12 months in supporting organisations to navigate the procurement pathway - we are delighted to support this event for the second year and are encouraged by how the level of interest and esteem in which these awards are held has taken off.”
With record entries for the Supplier Awards, Everton in the Community scored a hat trick winning the Community Care and Mental Health categories and the accolade of ‘Supplier of the Year.’

“We’re very proud to receive yet more recognition for our innovative partnership that was established in 2007,” added Everton in the Community’s Health and Wellbeing Manager Michael Salla. Seeing any programme you play a part in receive plaudits is wonderful, and to win the overall achievement is one of my proudest moments since being with the charity.”
Such was the standard of the entries the judges had difficulty selecting between suppliers and for the first time in the Acute Care category both 3M Health Care and the Gold Standards Framework were awarded Highly Commended.
This year the event also paid tribute to the people who work in NHS Procurement from across the North West. For many years Procurement has been considered the Cinderella of professions in the NHS, for the first time they did get to ‘go to the ball.’
Awarding six NHS Trusts with their Towards Excellence Accrediation, John Warrington, Department of Health, Deputy Director of Procurement Policy & Research told the audience how emotional he felt that at last Procurement was receiving the recognition it deserved and praised NHS NW Procurement Development for an excellent event.
