Excellence in Supply Awards 2013 - Winners Announced
It was a wet and windy Wednesday 30th October in Wigan, but nearly 200 guests braved the conditions to attend the first regional NHS ‘Excellence in Supply’ Awards. The audience included Suppliers, Trust CEOs, Executive Directors, Clincians, Heads of Procurement, representatives from the Department of Health, Government Procurement Service and NHS Supply Chain.
Catherine Beardshaw (CEO, Aintree University NHS FT & Andrew Foster (CEO, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS FT) opened proceedings.

The award category winners
Paul Hartmann Ltd, received the accolade of ‘Supplier of the year’ for their submission: Dignity for Patients, Efficiencies for All – The HARTMANN Continence Home Delivery Service.
Judges felt that they were dealing with an area which is generally considered a taboo and sensitive subject and had designed a service around dignity and removing stigma with a positive impact on service users, whilst delivering efficiencies to the NHS.

Neil Clough, a finalist on this years ‘The Apprentice’ was the guest speaker. Neil, renowned for his “right man, wrong plan” tag on the BBC show, spoke about his journey on The Apprentice, his father’s battle with cancer and the importance of self-belief. Neil then went on to present the award for ‘Non clinical innovation’.

The event also gave an opportunity for Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to network with larger organisations:-

And finally…….
NHS NW Procurement Development will now be working closely with the North West Coast AHSN and award finalists to identify opportunities to improve patient care, create efficiencies and reduce costs for Trusts across the region. A summary of the supplier initiatives will be posted on the website in the coming weeks with an update of how these have been taken forward.
